How to vote in Ward 4
The 2026 Vaughan Municipal Election is Monday, October 26. You can vote online during the Advance Vote, or in person on Voting Day — and each has its own deadline. Here is what you need to know, and what to do first.
Step 1
Can you vote in Vaughan?
You are eligible to vote in Vaughan’s municipal election if all of the following are true.
- You are a Canadian citizen.
- You are 18 years of age or older.
- You are a resident of Vaughan, or you own or rent property in Vaughan and live elsewhere, or you are the spouse of someone who owns or rents property in Vaughan.
Step 2
Get on the Voters’ List
Your name must be on the Voters’ List before you can vote — and you must already be on it before you can register to vote online. Checking takes a minute.
Step 3
Two ways to vote
Vaughan’s Advance Vote is online only this election. Voting Day is in person on paper. You choose one.
1. Advance Vote — online
Friday, October 9 to Sunday, October 18. Voting opens at 12 a.m. on October 9 and closes at 11:59 p.m. on October 18.
You must register in advance. Registration closes Thursday, October 15. To register you need acceptable identification and a unique email address.
Once registered you receive an email with a unique 16-digit PIN and a link to the voting platform. You can vote from a computer, tablet or mobile device.
2. Voting Day — in person
Monday, October 26, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voting Day is a paper ballot, in person. There is no online voting on Voting Day.
You will receive a separate notice telling you your assigned voting location. Locations include City facilities, schools, retirement residences and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital (patients only).
Unofficial results are published from 8 p.m. on Voting Day.

Identification
What ID do I need?
Bring one document showing your name and your qualifying address. It does not need a photo.
- Ontario driver’s licence, Ontario Photo Card, or Ontario Health Card (photo card)
- A utility bill for hydro, water, gas, telephone or cable TV
- A bank or credit card statement, or an RRSP, RRIF, RHOSP or T5 statement
- A mortgage statement, lease or rental agreement
- A property tax assessment or income tax assessment notice
- A cheque stub, T4 or pay receipt from an employer
- An Ontario Works or ODSP direct deposit statement
- A document showing residence at a long-term care home, or campus residence
Ontario’s regulation lists 29 acceptable documents in total, so this is not the complete list. If you are already on the Voters’ List but have no acceptable identification, you can complete a Declaration of Identity (Form 9) at the voting place.
Cannot make it?
Voting by proxy
If you cannot vote in person on October 26, you can appoint another eligible Vaughan voter to vote on your behalf by completing Vaughan’s Appointment of Voting Proxy Form.
A proxy cannot be used for the online Advance Vote. If you want to vote early, register for online voting instead.
